The Curriculum Department is responsible for designing and maintaining the entire K-12 instructional program.

Also, the Curriculum Department is responsible for:

  • Developing a 7-year curriculum revision timeline
  • Revising existing courses of study (to align with the PA Standards) with committees of teachers and administrations
  • Creating new planned courses of studies as needed
  • Selecting new textbooks and other learning materials
  • Monitoring implementation of curriculum programs
  • Developing local assessment plans which include state-required standardized and district-created assessments
  • Planning all teacher and staff in-services

Responsibilities of the Elementary Curriculum Department include supervising:

  • Literacy Programs – Assured Readiness for Learning (ARL); Accelerated Reader (AR); 4-Blocks Framework for Teaching Balanced Literacy, Sitton Spelling Program
  • Title I – Four (4) PENNCREST elementary schools, Bethesda, and Hermitage House
  • Federal Programs – Title IIA, Title IID, Title V
  • K-12 Student Assistance Program (SAP) (IST) – On Applebee Pond, TATU, Stand TALL, Tobacco Control Grant, Act 211, Lifeskills
  • PENNCREST Child Development Centers – Day Care and Head Start
  • French Creek Outdoor Learning Center – “Earthkeepers”
  • College/Schools Collaborative – C/SC
  • Access PA Library Programs
  • K-8 Reading Is Fundamental – RIF
  • Act 48 Credit Compliance – K-6
  • Test Coordinator – Terra Nova
  • CAPP – Child Assault Awareness Program
  • Aesthetic Education – Academy Theatre, Allegheny College Collaborative, Erie Philharmonic
